The Bossier City Commission for Women focuses on honoring and inspiring local women this month in observance of Women’s History Month.
The commission has partnered with the city and local businesses to offer a variety of events throughout the month, all offered at little or no cost to attendees.
The annual Inspiring Women Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 19 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2015 Old Minden Rd. Author and entertainer Jinny Henson will speak. Tickets are $25, and space is limited. Also, donations of new socks and underwear for boys and girls ages 6 to 16 will be collected for Maggie’s Closet. March 1 – March 31 -- Health & Fitness Challenge: Fit Nation, 1701 Old Minden Rd., is offering a month of free classes, free fitness assessments, nutrition tips, a plank challenge with cash prize available. March 6 -- Alive at Five networking event: Grab your girlfriends and enjoy an evening of fun and networking from 5 to 7 p.m. at Silver Star Smokehouse & Saloon, 1201 Dixie Overland Rd. Appetizers provided. Cash bar.
March 11 -- Finance Panel: A panel discussion and Q&A with local female financial professionals at 5:30 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriot at the Louisiana Boardwalk. Light food and beverages will be served.
March 14 -- “The Entrepre-Woman”: Discussion with female business leaders at 11:30 a.m. at Joe Cobb Bar-B-Que, 203 McCormick St.
March 21 -- Dress for Success: Learn how to boost career success with subtle rules for your wardrobe at 5 p.m. at the Bossier Council on Aging, 706 Bearkat Dr.
March 26 -- Wine, Women & Paintbrushes: Another great girls’ night opportunity at 5 p.m. at Bossier Arts Council, 630 Barksdale Blvd. Don’t worry about leaving with a nice piece of artwork – Bossier Art Council pencils in your image, so you can’t go wrong.
