The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission called for jolly volunteers to provide Christmas gifts for Project Mission Tree, which distributes personal gifts to the men, women, and children who will call the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission home this Christmas.
Through Project Mission Tree, homeless guests ask for three specific gifts they would like, each valued at $30 or less.
Participants have the option of requesting however many tags they would like for a group or family that they could pick up at the Mission (901 McNeil St., Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30). Individuals also picked tags off a Christmas tree in the McNeil St. facility foyer during November. The annual project is considered ideal for a family, church group, Sunday school class, service organization, or business.
Presents were to be gift-wrapped and returned to SBRM by Thursday, Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m., with the tag securely attached.
SBRM has a Volunteer Orientation each month, usually on the first Saturday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the downtown shelter, 901 McNeil St., Shreveport, 71101. Upcoming dates in 2014 are January 4, February 1, and March 1.
