Shreveport Little Theatre has scheduled auditions for its summer musical, “Shrek The Musical,” with music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, and based on the DreamWorks Animation motion picture, book by William Steig.
Auditions will be at 6:30 p.m. April 11 and 3 p.m. April 12 at SLT's Studio at 812 Margaret Place. Please enter through the back alley, stage door. Bring resume' and headshot, if available, and bring a Broadway song to sing.
The production, scheduled for July 17–27, is the full-Broadway version. It will be a joint-production of SLT and SLTAcademy and will feature actors of all ages.
The musical is a twisted fairy tale: In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.
