Path to Excellence
The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and Alliance for Education announced that 21 Caddo Parish schools have been named Path to Excellence Schools.
The goal of the Path to Excellence program is to recognize continual improvement and excellent performance in schools. Path to Excellence awards go to schools that are in the top 25 percent of improvement in Louisiana School Performance Scores from the previous year.
For 2015-2016, there were five schools in Bossier Parish and 21 in Caddo. For the 2014-2015 school year, there were four Bossier Parish schools and nine in Caddo Parish.
“School improvement is hard work, and significant school improvement indicates principals, teachers, school staff and parents have been successful in engaging students in learning,” said Dr. Phillip Rozeman, Chairman of the Alliance for Education. “It is our hope the neighborhoods served by these schools, and our community as a whole, will join in celebrating school improvement.”
Each Path to Excellence school will be awarded a $500 grant, courtesy of the Alliance for Education, Willis-Knighton Health System and the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. They will also receive a banner touting their achievements to display on campus.
“It is important to recognize schools, especially when the efforts made by teachers, students, parents and staff result in improved student achievement,” said Dr. Timothy Magner, President of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. “We hope that this recognition will encourage and inspire these school families to continue their positive journey on the Path to Excellence.”
