Energy Camp Louisiana is a weeklong camp designed to expose students to the exciting and vital role the energy industry is playing in Northwest Louisiana.
BPCC will be one of 3 host sites of Energy Camp Louisiana this summer. Energy Camp Louisiana, a weeklong camp designed to expose students to the exciting and vital role the energy industry is playing in Northwest Louisiana, is sponsored by Shell Oil. Incoming 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students from Caddo, Bossier, Red River, DeSoto and Natchitoches parishes who are eligible will be able to attend this unique, hands-on experience. This will be the fifth year for the camps.
BPCC’s Energy Camp Louisiana 2014 is scheduled for June 9-13. Session will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bossier Parish Community College, 6220 E. Texas St. The camp is designed to educate and energize local youth about fossil fuels, alternative energies and energy efficiency and conservation.
“With Northwest Louisiana being the center of the Haynesville Shale, Energy Camp Louisiana gives high school students a fun way to explore and learn about the natural resources we have in this area,” said Carrie Salinas, BPCC instructor and organizer for the camps. “The camps are hands-on with each day consisting of a theme and specific career focus.”

Monday - Safety and Introduction to Fossil Fuel Energy
- Career Focus: Safety Technician
Tuesday - Process Engineering and Quality Control
- Career Focus: Production Technician
Wednesday - What Happens on the Rig/Products from Fossil Fuels
- Career Focus: Careers in the Field
Thursday - Alternative Energy Sources and Conservation
- Career Focus: Engineer
Friday - What Have We Learned
