Parkway High School of Bossier City was named the Grand Champion at the annual Northwestern State University Marching Contest on Nov. 8 in Turpin Stadium. Thirty-two high school marching bands from Louisiana and Texas participated in the event. Deer Park (Texas) was second followed by Centennial (Texas), E.D. White and Mabank (Texas).
Parkway was the most outstanding band in Class IV. Caldwell Parish was the top band in Class I while Tioga was named the best band in Class II and E.D. White Catholic was the most outstanding band in Class III.
Parkway won the award for most entertaining show and West Ouachita was recognized for having the most spirited supporters.
In the auxiliary category, Caldwell Parish won Class I, Tioga won Class II and E.D. White won top honors in Class III and Deer Park was first in Class IV
Franklin Parish had the top percussion in Class I with Byrd winning Class II, E.D. White taking Class III and Parkway finishing first in Class IV.
