The Community Foundation of North Louisiana announces two members to its board of directors, Rand Falbaum and Margaret Thompson.
Rand Falbaum is Chairman/CEO of Gordon, Inc. He earned degrees from Texas A&M University and an MBA in finance from the University of Texas. Falbaum is widely recognized as an owner, manager, and mentor for over a dozen businesses including CRM Studios, Versa Finance Company, Sound Fighter Systems, Pelican Security Network and PODs. He was recently awarded “Samaritan of the Year” and “Businessman of the Year” and has provided leadership on the Board of Trustees of the Willis Knighton Health System, the LSU Health Sciences Foundation, Committee of 100, Public Affairs Research Council and Argent Trust. He has served as Chairman of the BioMedical Research Foundation, Greater Bossier Economic Development Foundation, Sci-Port Discovery Center, and Cohabitat of Shreveport/Bossier.
Margaret Thompson is a retired educator and community volunteer. She earned degrees from Southern University, Baton Rouge, and Louisiana Tech. A Caddo Parish school employee for 33 years, she has been a high school teacher of English, assistant principal, and secondary English/Foreign Language supervisor. For a number of years, Thompson was employed as an adjunct in the English Department at LSUS. Local past involvement includes: YWCA board member; member and president of the Mayor’s Women’s Commission; member of the board, Providence House; and member of River Cities Network. Currently she serves as member of the Friends Board, Louisiana State Museum; Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.; and member and former president of the Women’s Philanthropy Network.
These two new members replace members Don Jones, after serving ten years on The Foundation board; and Ollie Tyler, who recently resigned.
Other Community Foundation board members are Edward J. Crawford III, chairman; Janie D. Richardson, vice chairman; Thomas H. Murphy, treasurer; Terry C. Davis, secretary; and Bobby Jelks, director.
