Reggie C. Roe of Frierson, Police Jury District 5, will serve as President of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury for 2014. The vote was 7 to 4. Former president from Logansport, Dewayne Mitchell, had served 14 years.
Since his election to office 12 years ago, Roe has also served as chairman of the Buildings & Properties Committee, the Solid Waste Committee, and the Animal Control Committee, while also serving as a member of various committees set by the police jury.
His work experience as owner of Reggie Roe Builders enabled him to complete construction/reconstruction of the DeSoto Parish Court House. When he was first elected to the jury, Roe was chosen to head the project of bringing in a new cell at Mundy Landfill. He also successfully oversaw construction of the Health Unit and Office of Community Services complex when those agencies were relocated to Polk Street.
This is the first time Roe was nominated for the office of presidency, and he has already implemented some changes that he thinks will make the office and the entire operation of the police jury run more smoothly.
Roe is a member of the Coordinating and Development Council and a member of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership, a 14-parish coalition formed to try to bring jobs and industry to Northwest Louisiana.
