Jimmie Davis Bridge
The public can pick the new color of the Jimmie Davis Bridge in DOTD's 'Pick the Paint' vote.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development invites the public to get involved with improvements to the Jimmie Davis Bridge.
Voting is now open in DOTD’s “Pick the Paint” campaign. The public can vote on their favorite paint color via DOTD’s website or the “Pick the Paint” Facebook page. Possible color choices include: blue, purple, brown, green, gold, grey, orange and red. Voting continues through May 2.
DOTD announced that bids will be taken In October on the project to rehabilitate the Jimmie Davis Bridge. The project will involve re-decking, performing structural repairs, installing lighting and painting the bridge.
Work on the bridge is expected to begin early 2015 and take approximately one year to complete. Once started, a complete closure of the bridge will be necessary for crews to safely and quickly perform the work.
The Jimmie Davis Bridge was built in 1968 and will cost an estimated $15 million to $20 million to rehabilitate. The bridge serves approximately 21,500 motorists a day. The rehabilitation will improve ride quality and extend the life of bridge.
