Resurfacing operations are scheduled to begin Wednesday on East 70th Street (LA 511) from Fern Avenue to Line Avenue, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced in a news release.
The work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
The improvement project, which began in April 2013, will widen and resurface the eastbound and westbound lanes between Fern Avenue and Creswell Road and construct a center turn lane. In addition, the project will resurface the existing roadway from Creswell Road to Line Avenue.
The widening portion of the project is essentially complete. The contractor has been working on constructing the tie-ins at the city streets, installing new traffic lights, sidewalks, and driveways.
Please keep in mind that work such as asphalt laying and roadway striping have weather restrictions. The project is scheduled to be complete in May.
DOTD reminds drivers to use caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
