At a recent media luncheon at Clista A. Calhoun Center, local dignitaries and notables from Shreveport, DeSoto Parish and Natchitoches came to view the interior of the renovation/reconstruction, which has been completed.
Police Jurors in attendance included J. O. Burch, Reggie Roe, Jeff Heard and Ernel Jones. Mayors Marsha Richardson, Katherine Freeman and Curtis McCoy spoke regarding the impact of having such a center in the parish.
A fundraising gala will be held at the Center on March 29, with the entertainment being provided by Shreveport Opera Xpress (SOX). SOX will perform Broadway hits from the era of Josh Logan, a former student of the college and former resident of Mansfield. Logan is perhaps most well-known for writing and producing the movie, “South Pacific.” Some items that once belonged to the late Logan are housed in the Mansfield Female College Museum, given as donations from his family.
For tickets or more information on the upcoming performance, contact Center Director Van Reech at (318) 540-7500. You can also visit the website at clistacalhouncenter.com.
