The Shreveport St. Patrick’s Day parade will not roll on March 15 as previously planned. Parade Sponsor 4 Shreveport is unable to proceed with the parade because of funding and planning issues, according to a news release.
In previous years the parade has raised more than $7,000 for local charities, including Right to Play Playground, the Reach Out to Read Program, Peter Pan Players, Shriner’s Hospital of Shreveport and Volunteers for Youth Justice/CASA.
Despite the cancellation of the parade, 4 Shreveport still plans to make cash donations to Meals on Wheels and Girls on the Run Shreveport.
4 Shreveport hopes to be able to revive the parade in the coming years. Any interested parties may visit 4shreveport.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about joining the planning committee or becoming a personal or business sponsor.
The parade is featured in a story in the March edition of Metro Leader. The parade was cancelled after the issue had gone to print.
