The United Way of Northwest Louisiana recently welcomed Jennifer Adams as the new Director of Resource Development. Adams has worked in Shreveport-Bossier City for more than 15 years. Her public relations and marketing background covers a broad spectrum – from travel and tourism to neurosurgery, non-profit to state government. She graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a BA in Communications and Public Relations.
Prior to joining the United Way of Northwest Louisiana, Adams worked at the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse as Director of Development and Marketing. She also has worked for Williams Creative Group, Louisiana State University Health Center, and the tourism industry.
Adams has worked in both sides of communications. She has written for The Forum News, City Life Magazine, and is currently a Community Perspectives columnist for The Times. She made her acting debut with the Shreveport Little Theater in Lost in Yonkers in 2013.
Adams recently earned the designation as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), an international certification. She is also a Leadership Shreveport graduate and serves on numerous boards for local agencies and organizations. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, where she held the position of Vice President of Membership, and the Public Relations Association of Louisiana, where she is the Vice President of Continuing Education.
