University Health Hospital Administrator Joe Miciotto resigned on June 27. Miciotto said the new administration sought to keep him in a key management position, “But after much prayer and thought, I felt that it was best to move in a different direction.”
Miciotto joined the former Confederate Memorial Hospital in 1975 and was named hospital administrator at LSU Medical Center in 2001. Miciotto was instrumental in the successful transition from LSU Medical Center to the new privately-managed University Health hospital.
“Joe has contributed significantly over the years in his role at LSU and with University Health. He is surely leaving a legacy behind when he leaves his position at the end of July,” said Rod Huebbers, University Health CEO.
The hospital soon will finalize plans to fill the position.
