Rod Williams will take over as president of University Health Shreveport on Aug. 1.
Roderick L. Williams – a seasoned healthcare executive with deep skills in hospital, leadership and community engagement – has been named President of University Health in Shreveport effective Aug. 1.
The announcement was made today by Rod Huebbers, Chief Executive Officer of the University Health System, who praised Williams as “a natural leader who I know will inspire our University Health team and help our hospital achieve its higher goals in becoming the hospital of choice for everyone in the communities we serve.”
Williams, a native of southern Alabama, has served in a variety of executive leadership roles for Inova Health System in suburban Washington, D.C., for the past 19 years, most recently as Vice President for Community Affairs for the system. He has served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Ambulatory Services for Loudoun Healthcare and as Administrator for the Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which are part of the Inova system.
“I am delighted to join University Health as the leader of its Shreveport hospital services,” said Williams. “I have strong ties to Northern Louisiana through my family and consider it an honor to be chosen to help guide University Health as it builds the best system of medical care in Louisiana for all families and all communities.”
As a leader for Inova’s public health initiatives, he developed the Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition and iPath (Inova Partnering Actively Toward Health), both of which focused on creating healthier lifestyles among those who were the most exposed to or had high tendencies to lack of care and development of chronic disease. He developed a Congregational Health initiative that used churches as a point of distribution for health care to improve access for all communities.
Williams holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia. He and his wife, Dazz, have two children, Elijah and Brandon.
